Bill Kupinse recognized as Tacoma Poet Laureate
by Electric Elliot
Considering he’s basically my poetry mentor at the University of Puget Sound, I thought I should note that Professor Bill Kupinse was recognized this past Friday as Tacoma’s First Poet Laureate. Congratulations to Bill on this incredible achievement. Bill was chosen out of 13 finalists for this position. I’m pleased to have had the honor to study with him during my time at UPS.
A poem by Bill will be appearing in the next issue of Crosscurrents, to be released April 28th.
Check out this link for more information on Bill’s new position and the selection process.

That’s great news. What was his poem? I wonder if Pierce County has a poet Laureate?

His poem relates to Tacoma. I can’t recall the name off the top of my head, but it’s a good one.
To my knowledge there isn’t a PC Laureate.

Cool! We have a poet laureate! PS Did anyone know that Billy Collins was in Tacoma last Friday?
