Bonobos are pretty much amazing. They are better than chimps, because they don't start wars, commit infanticide, or eat each other; better than orangutans, because they don't rape each other; better than rhesus macaques and baboons because they are mad egalitarian. This, of course, is a normative judgment, for each species is unique and fascinating in its own way. Anyway humans are not inherently cute when they hug, while gibbons are fuzzy and therefore cute.

Glynnis: people hug too ;). You reminded me of this amazing book called "Our Inner Ape." It actually talks about Bonobos and how amazingly humanlike some of their characteristics are. I'd recommend it for anyone (http://www.emory.edu/LIVING_LINKS/OurInnerApe/.)

Jen: Chris actually told me that story and the masturbate line was added to the original idea because of his horrific tale.

Hahahaha! Chris HATES monkeys. Why, you ask? As a child he saw a monkey jack off in front of him at the zoo and then eat the left-overs.

Hey, if you are a monkey, you need your protein, too!!!!
