I find it interesting that Pierce County went blue for federal (Obama) and red for local politics (Bunney, etc.). I wonder why?

I have always felt that a healthy competitiveness between the two parties is a GOOD thing--I do not like the thought of one party having all the power--which is why I vote on the issues rather than party lines. Someone the other day said they had not heard one good thing Gov. Gregoire has done for our state... I thought about it, and neither have I. Not that hearsay is fully plausible, but she just doesn't stand out as one who takes the lead on important issues, that will truly make change, or make things better. Instead, she's been pawned into "The System", "The Man," and "The Frank Chopp", and does what is told of her by polls and party politics.

The Republican mantra, "33%! 33%!" definitely rings a chill note in my ear about Gregoire's increased spending habits.

Maybe that is "normal" these days?

Interesting take. It's agreeable, but we'll have to work seriously hard for it. The loss of Dino was devastating -- thanks 100% to Barack Obama and not Gregoire herself. We're down, but not out.

It also looks like Bruce Dammeier (R) will pick up McDonald's old House seat in the 25th District. That leaves Dawn Morrell somewhat vulnerable to say, a young hungry Republican who's well spoken, credentialed, and highly motivated. (that's not an official statement...)

And the Bush era has finally ended. Our hands are wiped clean. There is no other GOP figure in politics that Democrats can place blame on at this point. With confrol of virtually everything both at the state and national level, change indeed may be coming in 2010 and 2012.
