In a campaign press release, New Mexico Governor and former Democratic hopeful, Bill Richardson, announced to his supporters yesterday that he had completed a trip to meet with both Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to try to win the release of American hostages held by FARC rebels since 2003. “As is often the case with these negotiations, the results were not immediate–but I believe we made real progress” Governor Richardson said.

Today, March 21, 2008, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson endorsed Illinois Senator Barak Obama at a rally in Portland, Oregon – thus joining Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd in what may be a growing field of former presidential hopefuls who have decided to reject former First Lady Hillary Clinton’s calls for allegiance in favor of throwing their lot in with a charismatic upstart.
